When I’m traveling alone or with someone else, nothing beats having the least number of items in my suitcase. The less baggage I bring, the better it is. Here are some tips I learned over the years to help to travel light on your next trip.
Bring a versatile set of outfits
A good way to travel light is by simply planning few days ahead. Once you have your trip planned out, you can make a list of the essential items to bring with you.
If you wish to travel light, choose pieces in three matching colors so you can mix and match to create multiple outfits.
Neutrals (black, white, tan, denim) will tie your wardrobe together.
A few great basics are a pair of jeans, a white tee, a pair of shorts, a casual coat or cardigan, comfy sneakers, and sandals or booties. Don’t forget the little black dress!
For a weekend trip pack about 10-15 pieces and for a 2 weeks trip: pack 15-20 pieces. Bring no more than two pairs of shoes and don’t bring heels! They are impractical.
Bring one bag only
Having one carry-on to take care of during your trip makes it much easier. Not only do you have little to carry with you, but your trip will also be more convenient.
You do not have to worry about losing checked-in luggage if you only have a carry-on. You don’t have to spend time packing and unpacking them.
Anyway, most of the time we pack thinking we will need all these clothes and shoes. Suitcase space is precious. Don’t waste it.
