Cinnamon Bread French Toast

by ardentadmin

So this morning, like every saturday morning for that matter, I was wondering what my kids would like for breakfast. It occurred to me that my mom had dropped by to give my daughter a loaf of her favorite bread : cinnamon bread. She gets it at a local bakery not far from here on the south shore from Quebec City. My parents used to drive there with my sister and I every other weekend when I was a kid myself. It tastes the same as it did 30+ years ago… and everytime a toasted bread slice pops up of the toaster, the cinnamon smell brings back all those childhood memories.

Cuisine French
Servings 2 people

Equipment

  • 1 Pan

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs extra large
  • 4 slices cinnamon bread
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  • Heat up your pan to medium low heat.
  • In a large flat bowl, mix the eggs and milk together. Then soak each bread slice (one at a time) on both sides.
  • Add a little butter to your pan and cook your soaked bread slice on both sides until golden brown. It's better to cook longer on low heat so the mixture cooks on the inside and the outside doesn't burn.
  • Serve with a drizzle of real maple syrup on top.
